Meet Lessly, Lady Who Earned Two University Degrees from U.S. Varsity at 23

Her name is Lessly Khayanga. She is an African Lady who bagged two University Degrees from an American University when she was just 23 years old.

Lessly Khayanga Amwikato, a 23-year-old Kenyan woman, earned two bachelor’s degrees from Principal College in Illinois, United States. She graduated with degrees in Economics and Global Studies.

Growing up in Western Kenya, Lessly spent only a year at Eregi Girls High School before an opportunity arose for her to relocate to the United States. Reflecting on her time at Eregi Girls, she expressed gratitude for the school’s support and preparation for her future endeavors.

Lessly received a full scholarship covering her educational expenses, provided she maintained high academic performance and participated in extracurricular activities.

“I had to maintain the scholarship and the aid by performing well in my academics and getting involved in other extracurricular activities,” she said.

Adjusting to a new culture was challenging for Lessly, particularly in terms of food and clothing. She also found balancing her studies in economics and global studies with sports and work to be demanding.

“Pursuing my two courses; economics and global studies, was also not easy especially balancing sports, work, and education altogether. It was very tiring,” she noted.

Despite these challenges, Lessly graduated with honors and received four awards, highlighting her dedication and hard work.

“This is something that I have been looking forward to since I was a kid, and I am grateful to have done it finally. I graduated with honors, which is something that I had worked for and I am so proud of this amazing accomplishment,” she shared.

Lessly credits her success to the unwavering support of her family, friends, and mentors. Looking ahead, she plans to pursue a Master’s degree in International Development and aims to work for the United Nations. Through her work with the UN, she hopes to help communities worldwide access the opportunities they deserve.
