“No guidance, no blueprint… all on my own. I’ve always wanted to be a lawyer. Momma, I made it.”
Balancing a demanding schedule that included full-time work and entrepreneurial pursuits, Briya took no breaks between semesters and even participated in study programs abroad and across the U.S. Her dedication resulted in outstanding grades.
After graduating law school in 2021, Briya passed the bar exam on her first attempt, joining the elite 2% of Black women lawyers and 5% of Black lawyers in the United States. She faced significant challenges during her studies, including navigating the global pandemic and overcoming technical hurdles such as her computer crashing during exams.
Briya expressed her gratitude, saying:
“God is so faithful, and without Him, I am nothing. I hope those coming through the pipeline behind me can see me as proof that anything is possible.”
Her academic journey began at Salisbury University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government in 2016. She later pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA), which she completed in 2023.
Briya credits her success to the unwavering support of her family, friends, and mentors. Now, as a practicing attorney, she is dedicated to advocating for her clients and inspiring others to reach their full potential.
