Naja’atu Salisu, a 300-level Computer Science student at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) in Bauchi, was found unconscious in the bathroom of her hostel and later died on Friday morning, July 26.
Naja’atu had gone to the bathroom in the female hostel at the university’s Gubi campus to take a morning shower and prepare for her classes. She was discovered lying unconscious on the bathroom floor shortly after.
A roommate reported to Leadership, “She had completed her usual morning routine and laid out the clothes she planned to wear to class before going into the bathroom.”
ATBU spokesperson, Zailani Bappa, confirmed the incident, stating that Naja’atu was rushed to the university’s clinic for medical attention. However, the medical personnel were unable to find a vein.
“She was then taken to the Trauma Centre at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead,” he said.
