It is quite an important part of a Nigerian student’s academic life as its is a medium of transition from secondary school to higher institution.
WASSCE is by far the hardest examination at this level as it is the last external examination a secondary school student takes before they get into the tertiary institution.
The exam is graded in A1, B2, B3 ( for distinction) C4, C5, C6 (for credits) D7, E8 (pass), and F9 (fail) respectively in decreasing order.
Getting a distinction is not very easy and thus reflects the height of academic brilliance of a secondary school student who gets a distinction grade in a subject.
The four students who have performed excellently at the examination are namely’ Victory Yinka-Banjo, Ogwubie Chikemzi Praise, Praise Ojonugwa Abba and Chiemela Stephanie Madun.
They all did exceptionally well with almost all of them having A’s in their results.
One of them, Victory had as well passed other international exams like IELTS in flying colors. Victory later got multiple scholarship offers from American universities which were worth more than $5 million (N1,902,500,000).
Praise Ojonugwa Abba has expressed his dream to study medicine at the university. He had even called out for support in that regards.
Chiemela Stephanie Madu on the other hand to is preparing to study medicine at the Federal Univerisity of Technology, Owerri, FUTO Haven scored 345/400 in her Post-United Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
The performance of these young students is incredible and to this, we say the government needs to take note of this rare academic excellence in results that have been seen in the examination and others in recent times and do the needful.
This will no doubt help students with exceptional performance in furthering their educational pursuits.
