Amidst the controversy surrounding the just concluded NANS convention marred with violence, Mr. Sunday Dare Asefon, a 43-year old postgraduate diploma (PGD) student of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), has emerged as the new President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
Mr. Asefon is said to be a former coordinator of NANS in Zone ‘D’ comprising of schools in the Southwestern states.


Asefon polled 155 votes to be declared the winner of the contest ahead of Momodu, who had 11 votes; Champion, 2 votes; Alopay, 7 votes, and Ladoja, 100 votes. 7 votes were declared invalid.
