44 students from Bells University of Technology, Ogun State graduated with first-class degrees in the 2020/2021 academic year.
The vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Jeremiah Ojediran, announced this on Saturday during the 13th convocation, doctoral degree award, and presentation of prizes.
According to him, a total of 595 students graduated in the 2020/2021 academic year.
This includes 44 students who have won first-class honors; 218 upper second-class students,272 second-class lower students; and 61 students with third-class awards.
The vice-chancellor said that 195 postgraduate students have also obtained different degrees.
Mr. Ojediran said that the university is making a conscious effort to become a world-class institution to become an internationally recognized leader in all activities.
“This world-class status will be reflected in our academics, first-class management, faculty, staff and student benefits, and value-added connections and partnerships,” he said
He said that the goal of the university is to enable all faculty, staff, and students to realize their full potential and be widely acclaimed internationally for projects and products related to human development.
The vice-chancellor also stated that reaching the height envisaged will enable graduates to compete with graduates from world-class universities.
He reiterated that the institution is committed to providing a conducive environment for students, faculty, and staff so that they can thrive and become world-class changes that would provide solutions to the country’s challenges.
Vice-chancellor Professor Bart Nnaji said that since its establishment in 2005, the university has achieved outstanding results and is rapidly becoming a world-class university.
Mr. Nnaji pointed out that all courses of the university have been accredited by the National University Council, NUC, and related professional institutions. He praised former President Olusegun Obasanjo for his sustainable contributions to the growth and development of the university.
News Agency of Nigeria reported that Ms. Adeyeye Oluseun from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering became the best student with a cumulative grade point average of 4.90.
