Brilliant PhD Student Develops Breakthrough Solution for Industrial Water Pollution

Cursory: A student of Industrial Chemistry at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, Abdullahi Rabiu, has discovered some agriculture-based materials that can remove harmful substances in Wate.

Abdullahi Rabiu, a doctoral (Ph.D.) student at the University of Ilorin in Nigeria has discovered a new way to remove toxins (harmful substances) from rivers and keep them from harming humans and aquatic life, PUNCH reports.

Rabiu, who is also a lecturer at Bayero University Kano, has developed anti-toxins made from agriculture-based materials and chemicals that can remove toxins deposited in rivers by industrial companies.

These toxins can cause serious health problems like skin and respiratory issues, cancer, and can even kill aquatic life. But thanks to Rabiu’s research, we now have a way to combat these toxins and keep our rivers and communities safe.

Rabiu’s research was inspired by a protest from the Challawa community in Kano, Nigeria, where industrial effluents (produced by Industries) were polluting the river and harming the people and animals who relied on it.

His findings show that proper treatment of industrial effluents before disposal in the environment is critical to avoiding these problems.
