University of Lagos (UNILAG) Denies the “Fire Outbreak Rumor”


The authorities of University of Lagos (UNILAG) has used their official twitter handle to notify the public to disregard the news stating that fire outbreak in UNILAG took lives and properties.
The tweet reads:
“Our attention has been drawn to a report by an online media outfit about a fire outbreak purportedly at a building under construction in the University of Lagos.
“For the records, eye witness reports have it that there was an electric surge from an underground cable somewhere around the construction site. Relevant units of the University were quickly notified and the fire, which was an isolated incident, was put out.
“No building was caught in the fire. There were no human or material casualties. Normalcy has since been restored to the site.
“Members of the general public are hereby implored to disregard any unfounded reportage concerning the incident.”
