The Management of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has initiated the process of generating electricity from waste to meet its energy needs as well as supply power to the neighbouring communities to boost the internal revenue generation, as part of the administration’s efforts towards making the University self-sustaining.

In a bid to achieve the set objective, the University Management led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi invited a US-based company – Anozenergy Global Limited (AGL) – for collaboration that will lead to the realization of the vision.
One of the unique aspect of the public-private partnership that was discussed during the meeting, which took place in the Vice-Chancellor’s Committee Room and attended by other management staff, involves generating energy from waste (Waste-to-Energy) – the treatment or processing of waste into a fuel source as a form of energy recovery for environmental sustainability.
This fruitful engagement between FUL and AGL signals a shared commitment to a mutual and sustainable collaboration that will address the energy challenges of the thirteen-year-old University and position her for more technological innovations and opportunities like other leading African Universities.
