University of Calabar, UNICAL notice ahead of the planned nationwide protest


Following the interactive meeting between Management and critical stakeholders/student leaders today, Monday July 29, 2024, the following decisions were reached.
- That the University of Calabar shall remain open for normal academic activities. However, the 1st and 2nd August, 2024, are declared lecture and examination free days
- That all the gates, except the main gate will be closed on the 1st and 2nd day of the planned protest being 1 and 2nd August, 2024
- That there will be restriction of movement around the campus on the first two days of the planned protest
- That it is mandatory for all staff and students to wear their ID cards while on Campus for ease of identification
- That the Medical Centre will remain opened and all health workers and other essential service providers will be on duty throughout the period of the protest
Students are advised not to participate in the protest or allow themselves to be used to foment trouble on campus, but should go about their normal academic activities.
Management wishes to assure all staff and students that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free academic session.
