ABU bags ‘Advanced Huawei ICT Academy Support Centre’ award

Ahmadu Bello University has been conferred with ‘Advanced Huawei ICT Academy Support Centre’ award as the “first ever” advanced Huawei iASC.


The Director, IIOE Nigeria National Centre, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. M.B. Mu’azu, received the award at Huawei iASC Roundtable in Shanghai, China at the weekend on behalf of the University.


The University won the award on account of enterprise IT, optical, entreprise wireless, data communication, digital power, Huawei cloud, computing, intelligent vision, intelligent collaboration and system software.


Prof. Mu’azu, who led ABU team to the Huawei iASC Roundtable, made a presentation at the well-attended global event as part of the activities of the Huawei Connect ’24 christened “Empowering Global ICT Instructors.”
Conveying the cheering news to the Managment of the University, Prof. Mu’azu explained that the Advanced iASC status made ABU the first global iASC with the mandate to train instructors from anywhere in the world.


The team leader to the Huawei iASC roundtable also disclosed that they had already commenced TTT sessions in Datacom and Security tracks for 18 instructors from nine African higher institutions of learning.


These institutions include DMI St. John The Baptist University, Malawai; Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST); Arrupe Jesuit University, Zimbabwe; NUST-Zimbabwe; and University of Botswana.


Others are University of Zimbabwe; Namibia University of Science and Technology Directorate of Research, Innovation and Partnership (DRIP); Malawi University of Science and Technology; and University of Malawi – The Polytechnic.


The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, who received the team’s progress report on the Huawei iASC Roundtable on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala and University Management, congratulated the team and urged Prof. Mu’azu and other members of the team to keep up the “exceptional work” they are doing for the University and humanity in general.
