One hundred and twenty three (123) staff and service units will be honoured by Ahmadu Bello University on Thursday, 30th January, 2025 for distinguishing themselves by making outstanding contributions to the objectives of the University.

The award ceremony, which will take place at 2:30pm at Yusufu Bala Usman Hall, is to be presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala.
This is the second time the University is organising such an activity since the establishment of the robust reward and recognition system last year in order to create a work environment that is meaningful, fulfilling, and purpose-driven for staff of all categories.
Last year, a total of 117 staff and service units were recognised and honoured as part of the institution’s effort to boost staff morale and instill trust and motivate employees.
The University Reward and Recognition System Committee last week submitted its report to University Management and recommended a total of 26 categories of different awards for 126 staff and service units.
In carrying out the exercise, the Committee was guided by the principal objectives and operational guidelines for rewards and recognition system in the University as established. The Committee’s work was also in line with the established criteria/scoring templates for evaluation of staff with outstanding performance and contributions to the University under the various accepted categories.
The exercise was based on submissions of nominations from heads of relevant units of the University using the appropriate instruments of evaluation as established, as well as inputs from members of the University community through the administration of a structured questionnaire instrument.
