Nigerian Woman Overcomes Four Years of Rejections to Earn Nursing Degree in the U.S.

After facing four years of rejection from nursing schools, Busola Sule overcame setbacks and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marymount University, becoming a licensed Registered Nurse in the U.S.

Busola Sule, a Nigerian woman who faced four years of rejection while applying to nursing schools, has finally earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Marymount University in the United States. Her journey to success was filled with challenges, but her determination and resilience helped her achieve her lifelong dream.

Busola initially earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in 2018, but her true passion was nursing. Despite applying to over 20 nursing schools across three application cycles, she faced repeated rejections, leaving her frustrated and uncertain about her future.

In 2022, when she least expected it, Marymount University accepted her into its accelerated nursing program. However, her struggles didn’t end there—she encountered further setbacks, including failing two major courses, Pediatrics and Pathopharmacology. These obstacles shook her confidence, but she remained determined to push forward.

Reflecting on her journey, Busola shared that her struggles only made her more grateful for her success. Alongside her nursing degree, she also earned her certification as a Registered Nurse (RN), officially licensed to practice in the United States.

Celebrating her achievement on Instagram, she quoted Isaiah 60:22, saying, “And when the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen!” Busola’s story is a testament to perseverance, faith, and the belief that setbacks are only stepping stones to greater achievements.
