Bauchi Schools Resumption Date 2026 Announced [UPDATED]

The Bauchi State Ministry of Education has announced re-opening of all basic, senior secondary, and tertiary institutions across the state, effective Sunday, 4th January 2025.

The decision was reached following extensive consultations with school principals, education sector managers, and private school owners, and has received the approval of His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, the Executive Governor.

The statement, signed by Information and Public Relations Officer Jalaloksen Usmani on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner for Education, also confirmed the immediate re-opening of the three Federal Government Unity Colleges in the state, as directed by the Federal Ministry of Education.

Schools in the state were initially closed based on security advisories following a series of concerning incidents in educational institutions nationwide. The government cited a significant improvement in the security situation as the reason for the reversal

Parents and Guardians are advised to ensure the return of their children to schools without delay,” the announcement read, adding that “additional security measures are being put in place to ensure the safety of students, teaching and non-teaching staff.”

The Ministry of Education expressed gratitude for the continued cooperation of the public as academic activities resume.

The ministry warned against late resumption, urging parents and guardians to ensure their wards return on time to avoid academic disruptions.
