Students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi who were abducted by gunmen regained their freedom after coordinated rescue efforts by security operatives and the community, while authorities continued investigations to arrest the kidnappers.


Students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi who were recently abducted by unidentified gunmen have regained their freedom after spending several days in captivity.
The students were released following coordinated efforts by security agencies and members of the community. The development was confirmed on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in Keffi.
The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, expressed gratitude over the safe return of the students. She stated that the victims were receiving medical attention and psychological support after the traumatic experience.
The Nasarawa State Police Command also confirmed the rescue but did not disclose full details of the operation, noting that investigations were still ongoing.
One of the rescued students, who chose to remain anonymous, described the ordeal as terrifying and emotionally difficult. The student, however, expressed appreciation for surviving the incident and reuniting with loved ones.
Security authorities in Nasarawa State assured residents that efforts were ongoing to arrest those responsible for the abduction and strengthen security measures to prevent similar attacks in the future.
