Abia State University (ABSU) made history by producing five First Class graduates in the 2024 Nigerian Law School Bar Exams—an achievement credited to strong leadership, structured mentorship, and the university’s growing reputation for academic excellence.
Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, has recorded a historic achievement by producing five First Class graduates in the 2024 Nigerian Law School Bar Examinations held in Abuja.
This marks a significant milestone for ABSU, reinforcing its status as a rising force in legal education. The university had earlier achieved a 100% success rate in the November/December 2024 National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation exercise.
The five high-achieving graduates are:
- Agupusi Kelechi C.
- Chibuzor Obinna Miracle
- Okoronkwo Brendan E.
- Adiele Marvelous Ezinne
- Nwaji Chizaram M.
Their success reflects the university’s growing national profile under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Onyemachi Maxwell Ogbulu. Once seen as a regionally focused institution, ABSU is now gaining recognition for its commitment to academic and professional excellence.
Prof. Collins Chijioke, Dean of the Faculty of Law, praised the accomplishment, attributing it to a structured system of mentorship, professional ethics, and practical legal training.
He noted that achieving First Class at the Law School is not only a reflection of brilliance but also the result of sustained support, guidance, and preparation.
This accomplishment sets a new benchmark for ABSU and other state universities, proving that excellence is achievable with the right systems in place—regardless of an institution’s size or resources.
The university hopes this achievement will inspire other faculties and institutions across Nigeria to aim higher and deliver globally competitive education.
