On July 17, 2025, Afrobeats star Adekunle Gold awarded N250,000 to several first-class graduates in recognition of their academic excellence, further highlighting his ongoing commitment to youth empowerment and philanthropy through both personal initiatives and the Adekunle Gold Foundation.

Popular Afrobeats sensation Adekunle Gold has made headlines once again—not for music this time, but for a commendable show of generosity. The singer awarded N250,000 each to a number of university graduates who finished with first-class honours.
The initiative began with a viral post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where Adekunle encouraged high-achieving graduates to publicly share evidence of their academic accomplishments.
“If you graduated with First Class, post your transcripts,” he wrote.
Thousands responded to the call, flooding the platform with screenshots of degree results and heartfelt stories about their academic journeys. Moved by their achievements and the challenges many faced while studying, Adekunle selected several individuals and personally rewarded them with N250,000 as a token of encouragement and support.
The gesture sparked widespread praise from fans and fellow celebrities, many of whom applauded the singer for using his platform to recognize academic excellence—especially in a country where educational achievements are often underappreciated or overlooked.
In a separate but similarly themed event, social media content creator and TikTok influencer Peller conducted a bold social experiment. He interviewed 20 master’s degree holders for a cameraman position, offering a surprisingly high monthly salary of N500,000. The unconventional move highlighted both the job market challenges faced by highly educated individuals and the growing trend of social commentary through digital media. Ultimately, two candidates were offered the role.
Beyond his music, Adekunle Gold has consistently demonstrated a commitment to social impact through the Adekunle Gold Foundation. The foundation is particularly focused on supporting individuals living with sickle cell disease—a cause close to the artist, who has openly shared his own journey with the condition.
The foundation’s scholarship programme provides comprehensive training and mentorship in the music industry, including business management, music production, songwriting, and marketing. By doing so, it opens new doors for young talents who might not otherwise have access to the resources and opportunities required to thrive in the entertainment sector.
Through both personal acts of kindness and structured initiatives, Adekunle Gold continues to prove that true stardom goes beyond fame—it’s about making a difference.
