Jeri Brown, a brilliant lady, earned a PhD in Instructional Design and Technology from Old Dominion University, US, joining the elite 4% of Black women in the US who hold a doctoral degree. Her achievement reflects academic excellence, persistence, and commitment to advancing digital equity.
Jeri’s academic journey began at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2005. She later obtained a Master’s degree in Education (M.Ed) in 2011, followed by another Master’s in Educational Technology in 2018.
In 2021, Jeri enrolled for a PhD, shaping her impact in education and research. She’s now a published author, conference presenter, and academic researcher, crediting her “village” and advisor Dr. Tian Luo for support.
Digital communities like Cohort Sistas and Write Your Dissertation, Sis kept Jeri motivated. She describes the milestone as humbling and empowering, eager to apply expertise to education, research, and community impact.
Old Dominion University offers various PhD programs, including Computer Science, requiring 48 credit hours and 8 years to complete. The university emphasizes mentorship and interdisciplinary research.
