The Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) will be meeting on Wednesday to decide the fate of their ongoing strike.

Recall the union embarked on its strike on June 14th and has been on strike for 56 days now.
They had on July 21st extended their strike by 3 weeks, which was supposed to end on Thursday 11th August 2022.
In an interview with Punch’s correspondent on Monday, the union’s Secretary General, Dr. Ahmed Lawan said their Nation Executive Council (NEC) Members will meet on Wednesday to discuss the outcome of their meetings with FG.
In the meeting, they will then decide if FG’s effort should make them end the strike or extend it.
In his words: “We started meeting with the government’s team on August 2, 2022. There were some agreements made and there are some other demands that we are still hoping will be met.
“Our NEC will be held on Wednesday. We need to brief our members and let them know what is going on. This will also help them decide whether to extend the strike to give the government more time to meet all demands.”
