Covenant University, located in Ota, Ogun state, has been named the top university in Nigeria for the year 2024 by Times Higher Education. The University of Ibadan in Oyo state and the Federal University of Technology in Akure, Ondo state, secured the second and third positions respectively in the rankings.

According to the latest rankings from Times Higher Education, Covenant University and the University of Ibadan are the only Nigerian universities to be listed among the top 1000 in the world. Meanwhile, the Federal University of Technology, Akure, and the University of Lagos are ranked among the top 1200 globally. Additionally, Bayero University in Kano, the University of Ilorin in Kwara state, and the University of Nigeria in Nsukka, Enugu state, are included in the top 1500 category.
