The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has admonished students of University Of Cross River, UNICROSS to shun fraudulent activities.


The Commission gave this admonition on Thursday, July 27th, 2023 during the inauguration of a “Zero Tolerance Club” at the Calabar Campus of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS).
Speaking during the inauguration, the EFCC Uyo Zonal Commander, Mr. Bawa Aminu, admonished students of the institution to shun all fraudulent activities and become advocates of “Zero Tolerance” of corrupt practices. He said: “The aim of the club is to promote and create awareness on corrupt practices as well as enlighten students on steps to take to avoid those practices”.
Accordingly, he enjoined students of UNICROSS to be good ambassadors of integrity and spread the message of “Zero Tolerance for Corrupt Practices” to their peers in Cross River State and beyond. He promised that representatives of EFCC will be visiting the institution constantly to supervise the operations of Zero Tolerance Club and reward outstanding members of the club.
In his opening remarks at the occasion, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of UNICROSS, Prof. Ekeng Ekefre, appreciated the Commission for finding the institution and her students worthy to be members of Zero Tolerance Club.
He advised students of UNICROSS to take the fight against corruption seriously and be good ambassadors of the club and the institution.
On her part, the Head of Public Affairs of EFCC, Uyo Zone, Mrs Theresa Nwosu, stated that the Commission has always been involved in the fight against corrupt practices by involving young Nigerians through the establishment of the “Integrity Club of the EFCC” in selected Secondary and Primary schools.
She added that the “Zero Tolerance Club” is for Universities and other higher institutions of learning.
The slogan of Zero Tolerance Club is “integrity starts with me”.
In that regard, several students of UNICROSS took oaths of allegiance to the Club and pledged to show selfless commitment to the fight against corruption.
