Federal University Dutse (FUD) to Begin Nursing, Environmental Health, Public Health Programme
As part of his plans to expand the academic programmes of the University, the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Dutse, Prof. Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed has revealed that plans have reached advance stage for the commencement of B.NSc Nursing, B.Sc Environmental Health and B.Sc Public Health by the Institution.
The VC who made the statement in a chat with FUD Newsletter said all necessary plans have been concluded to mount these programmes, adding that the University is now waiting for the National Universities Commission (NUC) verification team and visit by the professional bodies regulating these programs.
He said the buildings that will house these programmes are ready while the academic staff that will train the students have been employed.
Professor Abdulkarim said Jigawa state in particular and the catchment areas of the university in general need these programmes in order to improve the number of skill manpower in the health sector, adding that these propose new courses will also compliment the MBBS program of the university.
According to him Jigawa state and its environs need the Nursing programme to improve the capacity and service delivery in the health sector while the role of Environmental health workers and Public health practitioners cannot be over emphasized in today’s world going by the environmental challenges and outbreak of pandemics in recent years.
The Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Sanusi Ibrahim Chinade told FUD Newsletter that their target is to start the courses next session by the grace of God.
