FUTMINNA To Graduate 5,816 Students, 119 First Class Degrees At 33RD Convocation Ceremony
The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna) will hold its 33rd Convocation Ceremony and 42nd Founders’ Day on Saturday, February 1, 2025.
During the event, 5,816 graduands from the 2023/2024 academic session will be awarded degrees, with 119 earning first-class honors across various disciplines.
Addressing the press at the Academic Publishing Centre, Gidan Kwano Campus, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, highlighted the breakdown of the graduating students. The undergraduate category includes 4,955 students, with 1,431 obtaining Second Class Upper Division, 2,341 earning Second Class Lower Division, 972 receiving Third Class, and 92 with Pass degrees.
For postgraduate students, 861 will graduate, comprising 124 PhD holders, 632 MTech recipients, and 105 Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) awardees. The ceremony will also feature the conferment of honorary degrees and awards to distinguished individuals for their contributions to education and society.
Prof. Kuta highlighted several milestones, including the introduction of 13 new academic programs, such as Data Science, Software Engineering, and Forensic Science, approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC). These programs aim to address global competitiveness and societal needs.

The Vice-Chancellor also underscored advancements in e-learning, faculty training, and the full accreditation of all university programs by regulatory bodies such as SURCON, ARCON, and ESVARBON. FUT Minna has also activated over 30 Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with local and international institutions, fostering global partnerships.
In his remarks, Prof. Kuta reaffirmed the university’s commitment to academic excellence, technological innovation, and preparing students for a competitive digital age.
