Governor Alex Otti has awarded scholarships to 46 underprivileged but academically outstanding students from Abia State, urging them to maintain high academic standards and announcing potential increases in the scholarship amount to align with current economic conditions.

Forty-six undergraduate students from various universities across Nigeria have received scholarships from Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti.
Governor Otti established the scholarship program in 2016 to support financially disadvantaged but academically exceptional students.
Speaking at a banquet in Umuahia for the 2024-2025 recipients of the Alex Otti Scholarship, the governor highlighted the importance of sharing one’s blessings with others.
He called on wealthy individuals to recognize their responsibility to assist those in need, emphasizing that greater rewards await those who lend a helping hand.
Governor Otti also urged the scholarship recipients to maintain high academic standards, as the annual funding will continue throughout their studies, provided they achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.5.
He stated that the initiative is an investment in the future of bright but needy students of Abia origin or residents of the state, encouraging them to concentrate on their studies to develop critical thinking skills that will prepare them for the challenges ahead.
The governor also mentioned plans to collaborate with the Executive Secretary of the foundation to review and potentially increase the scholarship amount from Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira, considering current economic conditions.
