JAMB Set to Commence Accreditation of CBT Centres for 2026 UTME

As part of its preparations for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has concluded all arrangements to validate and accredit centres to be used for the exam.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially commenced the accreditation of centres for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This accreditation process is a critical first step in preparation for the annual examination.

JAMB has begun accrediting examination centres for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). A total of 848 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres are scheduled to be assessed in the nationwide exercise, which commenced on Monday, December 15, 2025

In JAMB’s Weekly Bulletin released on Monday, the Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed this during a virtual meeting with Chief External Examiners (CEEs), Chief Technical Advisors (CTAs), Zonal Directors, State Coordinators, the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria (CPAN), ZITOs, SITOs, PITOs and other key stakeholders.

Professor Oloyede urged members of the accreditation teams to approach the assignment with focus, diligence and thoroughness, reminding them of the far-reaching implications of their decisions. He described the exercise as a national duty and cautioned them against approving any centre that does not fully meet the Board’s standards.

He further advised them to remain security conscious, avoid unnecessary risks and limit movements or actions that could expose them to danger, while assuring that adequate security arrangements had been made for a smooth and safe exercise.

The Board’s IT Consultant, Mr Damilola Bamiro, explained that the exercise is restricted to centres that have successfully undertaken the mandatory automated test used to assess system readiness, adding that only centres that passed this test would qualify for physical inspection.

He noted that the accreditation teams will pay particular attention to the coverage and configuration of CCTV systems, which must be hard‑wired, use the HIKVision brand with the recommended 16 channels, and have all network switches connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).

All new Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres who desire to participate in the 2026 UTME exercise are to first visit https://www.jamb.gov.ng/Pdfs/CBT_centre_requirements.pdf to avail themselves of the requirements for establishing a JAMB-approved CBT centre.

Following this, these centres should notify the board in writing of their intention to participate in the accreditation exercise. This notification should be addressed to the Registrar of JAMB through the Zonal Director or State Coordinator in their respective states.

Established centres that were successfully accredited and participated in the 2025 UTME without any issues should proceed to register their interest through the Centre Management System (CMS) Portal.

The Zonal and State Offices will create accounts for new centres on the CMS Portal to facilitate their registration. All centres must conduct an Autobot/Autotest on a date that will be communicated to them, as part of their preparation for the physical accreditation visit by the Board’s team. It is essential to note that the Autobot/Autotest is mandatory; only centres that successfully complete this test and meet the necessary criteria will be eligible for a physical visit.

Only centres that qualify will receive information regarding the date for the physical accreditation exercise, scheduled for December 2025. Centres that do not achieve satisfactory results on the Autobot/Autotest will not be revisited.

Centres that meet all stipulated requirements will be approved and included by the board for the 2026 UTME registration and examination.

Other guidelines included the need for all centres to be well-fenced and not in a shared location with any other business outfit, adequate backup systems should be provided, the power supply should be up and active and that every centre should have functional air conditioners.
