In JAMB, what is the meaning of Special Consideration (Waiver)??

We contacted JAMB and ask them to define “Special Consideration” they said it mean “Candidates with Issues”. If you have registered your JAMB before coming across this page, then there are chances you didn’t choose the correct subject combination. If so the you’re in the category of Special consideration , some schools have a different requirement for their prospective students. These requirement are in the special consideration column. We will show you their special consideration.

Note sometimes in special consideration column, the school requirement might be slight different from the general requirement. We advice you know your desired school’s special consideration for your course.

UTME/JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION FOR EDUCATION AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Below is the UTME/JAMB SUBJECT COMBINATION for Education and English;

  • English Language(*), Literature in English and one (1) Art and any other subject.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

  • (i) EBSU and OOU require Literature in English and two (2) Arts subject.
  • (ii) For BENIN the third (3rd) subject could also be an Arts or a Social Science subject.
  • (iii) AAUA requires Literature in English and two (2) other Arts subjects.
  • (iv) LAGOS accepts English Language and any three subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.
  • (xii) SLUK accepts any three (3) subjects from Literature in English, History, Government, Arabic, French, Hausa and Islamic Studies.
  • (xiii) DELSU requires English Literature and two (2) relevant Arts/Social Science subjects.
  • (xiv) IMSU accepts any other subject.
  • (xv) MAIDUGURI requires any three (3) subjects from Arts.
  • (xvi) BAYERO requires two (2) Arts subjects to include Literature in English and any other subject.
  • (xvii) UMYUK requires any three (3) Arts or Social Science subject.
  • (xviii) ILORIN requires Literature-in- English and any other two (2) arts subjects.
  • (xix) IAUED requires English Language, Literature in English, Christian Religious Studies and History.
  • (xx) PHC requires Literature in English and any two (2) subjects from French, History/Government, CRK/IRK, Economics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Physics, Igbo/Hausa/Yoruba, Fine Art, Geography, Commerce, Accounting.
  • (xxi) FED-KASHERE requires Literature in English and one Arts or any other subject.
  • (xxii) FED-DUTSINMA Same as in BA ENGLISH.

O’LEVEL REQUIREMENT FOR EDUCATION AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Below is the UTME Requirement for Education and English;

  • Five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language and Literature in English plus three(3) other Arts or Social Science subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

  • (i) DELSU accepts ‘O’ Level credit in at least five subjects including English Language, Mathematics, English Literature and one other Arts subjects.
  • (ii) IMSU requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in Literature in English and other Arts subjects.
  • (iii) OAU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes which should include English Language and Literature in English plus ‘O’ Level credit passes in any three (3) other subjects or credit/merit in five (5) TC II subjects relevant to the course of study may be accepted.
  • (iv) BSU accepts credit/merit at TC II in relevant subjects.
  • (v) BENIN requires five (5)’O’ Level credit passes to include English Language and other subjects from Literature in English, History, French, Fine Arts, Government and Religious Studies.
  • (vi) UMYUK requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes including English Language, Literature in English and any other three (3) relevant subjects in Arts or Social Sciences with ‘O’ Level credit pass in Mathematics.
  • (vii) TASUED requires five (5)’O’ Level credit passes at one (1) sitting or six (6) ‘O’ Level credit passes at two (2) sittings to include Literature in English, English Language and one (1) other Arts subject.
  • (viii) ABSU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and any three (3) subjects.
  • (ix) UNIOSUN accepts ‘O’ Level or its equivalents with credit passes in five (5) subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Literature in English form the core subjects, with credit passes in two (2) other relevant Arts or Social Sciences subject at not more than two (2) sittings. The candidate must earn an acceptable score in the UTME
  • (x) LASU requires ‘O’ Level credit pass in Mathematics.
  • (xi) ABUJA and EBSU require five (5) O level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English and two (2) other Arts subjects.
  • (xii) GOUU requires ‘O’ Level credit pass in Mathematics but Literature in English is not compulsory.
  • (xiii) LAGOS requires Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Literature-in-English and any two subjects from Arts, Science and Social Sciences.
  • (xiv) EDKANO requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Islamic Studies/Arabic and two (2) Arts subjects.
  • (xv) SLUK accepts five (5) ‘O’ Level Credit passes to include English and two (2) other subjects from History, Government, Geography, French, Arabic, Hausa, Islamic Studies and Economics.
  • (xvi) AAUA requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics and any two (2) of the following: CRS/IRS, Igbo Language/Yoruba Language/Hausa Language, and History, Government, French, Fine Arts or Music.
  • (xvii) UYO requires at least five (5) ‘O’ Level Credits, including English Language, Mathematics, Literature in English, Government, and any other two (2) Social Science subjects or Information Science.
  • (xviii) ILORIN accepts five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Literature-in English and one Arts Subject obtained through GCE/SSCE/NECO/ NABTEB.
  • (xix) IAUED requires ‘O’ Level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Literature (Compulsory), History, Christian Religious Studies (any other Arts subject).
  • (xx) PHC requires Five (5) O Level Credits in English Language, Literature in English and any three (3) subjects from French, History/Government, CRK/IRK, Economics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Physics, Igbo/Hausa/Yoruba, Fine Art, Geography, Commerce, Accounting.
  • (xxi) FED-KASHERE requires Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics and Literature in English and other two (2) from Arts or Social Science Subjects.
  • (xxii) FED-DUTSINMA Same as in BA ENGLISH

DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENT FOR EDUCATION AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Below is the DIRECT ENTRY (DE) Requirement for Education and English;

  • Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in relevant teaching subjects including Literature in English.
  • NCE credit or merit in two(2)relevant subjects.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER)

  • (i) EDLAV does not accept grade less than D7 in Literature in English at ‘A’ Level or its equivalent.
  • (ii) BENIN accepts a) two (2) ‘A’ Level passes plus the UTME requirements, two (2) or three (3) NCE merit including English Language plus three (3) or two (2) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language and any of Literature in English, Religious Studies, Fine Arts, French, History or Government at one (1) sitting.
  • (iii) OAU accepts two (2)’A’ Level passes in relevant subjects including Literature in English. NCE credit or merit in two (2) relevant teaching subjects including Literature in English may be accepted.
  • (iv) JOS and EDALV accept holders of ND.
  • (v) UNN, EDALV and IBADAN accept NCE with ‘O’ Level credit passes in subjects to be combined with Education into 300 level.
  • (vi) PHC accepts Two (2) A/level GCE or HSC or JUPEB or IJMB passes in the relevant subjects including UTME entry requirements. NCE with Credit passes in the relevant subjects including UTME requirements for a 2-year degree programme
  • (vii) BSU requires ‘A’ Level passes in relevant teaching subjects including Literature in English, NCE with English Language and any other Arts subject.
  • (viii) LASU accepts only NCE merit in English Language and one (1) other Arts subject.
  • (ix) UMYUK accepts candidates with a minimum of 9 points in IJMB/HSC/GCE ‘A’ Level/NCE in English and any other relevant subject. Candidates with a minimum of lower credit pass in Diploma in English Education from recognized institutions may also be admitted. (x) BIU requires in addition to the ‘O’ Level requirements specified in the table above, two (2) relevant subjects passed at ‘A’ Level or NCE (3) merits or ND in relevant programme not below credit level.
  • (xi) TASUED accepts NCE merit in two (2) teaching subjects including Literature in English not General English provided that they meet the basic ‘O’ Level requirements. (xii) UNIOSUN accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes to include English Language
  • (xvi) EBSU accepts (i) HND and NCE/OND with minimum of Merit and Upper credit respectively. (ii) two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in English Language, and Literature in English.
  • (xiv) EDKANO – Candidates must obtain not less than eight (8) points in NCE.
  • (xv) LAGOS accepts (a) Very good passes in three (3) JUPEB subjects: Literature in English, and any two (2) of French, Igbo, Yoruba, History, Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Studies, Government, Economics and Arabic. (b) Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in English Language and Literature in English. (c) NCE: English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics and any other two (2) subjects. (d) Candidates must also satisfy the UTME requirements
  • (xvi) AAUA accepts (a) ‘A’ Level passes to include English Language and one (1) relevant subject. (b) Two (2) merit in NCE teaching subjects.
  • (xvi) DELSU requires at least merit in English and any other Arts subject at the NCE. ‘A’ Level passes should include Literature in English and at least one other Arts subject.
  • (xvii) UYO requires; a) NCE in relevant subject(s) with an overall merit pass or above, for a three-year degree programme. b) Advanced level GCE or JUPEB in two (2) relevant subjects. c) National Diploma in Educational Technology (DET) (minimum of lower credit level) in any area related to English Education.
  • (xviii) ILORIN accepts NCE in two (2) relevant subjects including English Language. Two A/L Passes in English Language and Literature in English.
  • (xix) IAUED accepts GCE A Level or its equivalent. Merit in English (NCE) and UTME Requirements. Merit at the National Diploma (ND). The above including the following ‘O’ level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Literature (Compulsory), History and Christian Religious Studies (any other arts subject).
  • (xx) LAGOS accepts NCE credit/merit in English, Literature in-English, Mathematics and any two subjects. Very good passes in three JUPEB subjects: Literature-in English and any two of French, Igbo/Yoruba, History, CRS/IRS, Government, Economics and Arabic. Three ‘A’ Level passes in relevant teaching subject areas.
  • (xxi) FED-KASHERE accepts Two ‘A’ Level credit passes in relevant subjects or ND/NCE/Diploma with minimum of 9 points
  • (xxii) FED-DUTSINMA accepts Same as in BA ENGLISH
