Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority (KSSQAA) Notice to Private School Proprietors/Proprietresses

The Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority (KSSQAA) wishes to draw the attention of all private proprietors/proprietresses to one of the provisions outlined in their approval letter, that is:
No proprietor/proprietress should increase school fees or upgrade his/her institution without the approval of KSSQAA.
Private Schools’ proprietors/proprietresses are enjoined to strictly abide by the extant regulatory requirements on upward review of fees, especially at a time when the State Government is reducing school fees in state-owned institutions of learning.
It is the responsibility of all proprietors/proprietresses to keep abreast of the government’s regulations in the education sector, which are inherently dynamic.
For the avoidance of doubt, the procedure guiding increase of school fees is based on the following conditions/requirements:
- Normally, previous increment must have lasted at least 3 years.
- Agreement for increment must come from the school’s PTA meeting with an acceptable quorum.
- Express approval of the Director-General, KSSQAA is required, following an application letter requesting for permission to increase school fees by specified amount(s).
- Typed minutes of the PTA meeting(s) and handwritten attendance sheet(s) must be attached to the application.
- Reason(s) for the increase of school fees must be stated in the application letter.
- Current enrollment strength per level (for each of: Pre-Basic, Lower/Middle Basic, Upper Basic and/or Post-Basic School) must be indicated in the letter.
- Both new and old school fees for all levels must be indicated on the letter of application.
Thank you.

Director, Private Schools Department (PSD)
