KASU Takes a Stand Against Drug Abuse, Launch DEPS Club

Kaduna State University’s Youth Cafe Innovation Hub partners with NDLEA to combat adolescent drug abuse, launching DEPS Club for prevention.

In a significant move, the Youth Cafe Innovation Hub at Kaduna State University, in partnership with the Center for Study and Resolution of Domestic Violence and NDLEA Zonal Command Headquarters, Zone F, launched the Drug Education and Peer Support Club (DEPS) on February 28, 2024. This initiative aims to combat drug abuse among adolescents and young individuals across secondary schools in the state.

Diplomatic Fellow ABDI and the representative of the Centre for Study and Resolution of Domestic Violence, Bilques Yusuf, expressed the importance of early education on drug abuse and the need for a supportive community approach. The DEPS Club intends to equip young people with strategies to resist peer pressure and foster a drug-free lifestyle.

Mrs Rahina Abubakar Wada, the team lead of Youth Cafe, emphasized the commitment to empowering the youth for holistic development. The NDLEA Zonal Command Headquarters, Zone F, reiterated their dedication to collaborative efforts with key stakeholders, striving for an inclusive approach to eradicating drug abuse among adolescents in Kaduna State.
