A viral video showing over 200 accounting students with carryovers in mathematics at a Nigerian university has sparked online outrage and debate over possible systemic failures in teaching and evaluation.

A viral video has stirred reactions online after a young lady revealed that more than 200 accounting students from an unnamed Nigerian tertiary institution had carryovers in a mathematics course.
In the video, the visibly shocked lady filmed a large crowd of students—whom she claimed were all retaking mathematics due to previous failure—exclaiming in Pidgin: “Omo, see carryover students in mathematics. Them plenty ooh, accounting students, carryover choke.“
While recording, she joked with a friend—an accounting student herself—teasing her about being among those with a carryover, prompting laughter between them.
The footage sparked widespread concern on social media, with many users questioning whether such a massive failure was due to poor teaching methods, flawed evaluations, or a larger systemic issue.
