The management of the  Lagos State University (LASU)  has observed that some students are in the habit of violating the University Rules and Regulations on what constitutes indecent dressing on campus and these acts by the students are being tolerated by members of Staff (Teaching and Non- Teaching)

In view of this, the students are hereby reminded of what constitutes indecent dressing while on the University Campuses, Ojo, Ikeja, Epe and Badagry. The students are also enjoined to beware of the consequences of their activities as the full enforcement of the University rule has commenced.

LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY REITERATES GUIDELINES AND POLICIES ON INDECENT DRESSING FOR THE 2025/2026 MATRICULATION CEREMONY

The Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, has issued a formal reminder to all newly admitted students that indecent dressing will not be tolerated during the 2025/2026 Matriculation Ceremony, scheduled for Monday, 1st December 2025. This directive reaffirms the University’s commitment to enforcing its dress code across all campuses.

Students, particularly those in 100 Level and Direct Entry, must appear in decent and acceptable attire for the matriculation ceremony. The University will not condone any form of dressing deemed indecent or inappropriate on the day.

For the avoidance of doubt and emphasis, the following constitute indecent dressing in the University and will not be permitted at the matriculation ceremony. These include:

  • Coloured hair
  • Excessively long hair (hair length should not go beyond chest level)
  • Dreadlocks or unkempt, overgrown hair
  • Long artificial fingernails
  • Skimpy dresses
  • Dresses that expose cleavage or the upper part of the body
  • “Crazy” or torn jeans
  • Nose piercing or the use of multiple earrings

These listed styles align with earlier LASU circulars prohibiting skimpy outfits, tattered jeans, revealing clothing, extreme hairstyles, and body piercings as part of the University’s broader efforts to curb indecent dressing.

Students are strongly advised to comply fully with these guidelines to avoid embarrassment or restriction from the matriculation venue and other University activities.
