LAUTECH Collaborating With Police to Investigate Student’s Off-Campus Death – Registrar

LAUTECH is working with police to investigate the mysterious off-campus death of Ridwan Oladipupo, a 300-level Agricultural Engineering student, who went missing on June 24 and was later found dead, with official identification still pending.

The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has confirmed its collaboration with the police to uncover the circumstances surrounding the death of Ridwan Oladipupo, a 300-level Agricultural Engineering student found dead off-campus.

In an official statement signed by the university’s Registrar, Mrs. Olayinka Balogun, LAUTECH expressed deep sadness over the tragic incident. She clarified that although the institution is non-residential, various security agencies maintain nightly patrols in areas heavily populated by students.

Ridwan reportedly left his off-campus hostel on Lawyer Ahmed Street on June 24, 2025, stating he was going to study but did not reveal his destination. On June 25, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Owode Division informed the Acting Dean of Student Affairs about the discovery of a body near Nurudeen Grammar School, along Under-G Road. Initial efforts to identify the body were unsuccessful, and it was transferred to the LAUTECH Teaching Hospital Mortuary.

On June 29, Ridwan’s father visited his hostel with a police officer, and hostel occupants were questioned. However, as of the time of the statement, there had been no official confirmation of the deceased’s identity submitted to the university.

Mrs. Balogun reiterated LAUTECH’s full support for the ongoing investigation, adding, “While the University mourns the loss of a student, we must allow law enforcement to conclude its inquiries without interference.”
