NELFUND honoured LAUTECH’s best graduating student, Oladepo Caleb Olugbenga, who achieved a 4.89 CGPA in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, celebrating his academic excellence while he credited hard work and the student loan scheme for his success and encouraged others to stay focused on their studies.

The National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has honoured Oladepo Caleb Olugbenga, the overall best graduating student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), during a special recognition ceremony held at the agency’s headquarters on April 30. The event was organized to celebrate academic excellence and highlight outstanding students who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to their studies.
Oladepo, who studied Electronic and Electrical Engineering, graduated with an impressive cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.89, making him the top performer among a total of 7,641 graduates in his set. His achievement stood out in a highly competitive academic environment, where the university also recorded 137 First Class graduates.
NELFUND, while sharing details of the ceremony, described the recognition as a proud moment and a reflection of the importance of rewarding diligence, discipline, and perseverance in education. The agency emphasized its commitment to supporting students across Nigeria and promoting access to higher education through its loan initiative.
In his reaction, Oladepo expressed gratitude for the honour and used the opportunity to inspire other Nigerian students. He encouraged them to remain dedicated to their academic pursuits, stressing that excellence is attainable through focus, consistency, and hard work. He noted that his journey was not without challenges but was made easier through determination and the right support system.
Oladepo also acknowledged the role of the NELFUND student loan scheme in his success, stating that the financial support helped ease the burden of his education and allowed him to concentrate fully on his studies. His story serves as a strong example of how access to educational funding and personal commitment can combine to produce outstanding results.
The recognition not only celebrates his personal achievement but also reinforces the broader message that investing in students and education can lead to meaningful national development.
