Man Gives Controversial Advice to Young Students & Graduates, Causes Commotion Online

Oludayo Sokunbi has given what has been tagged ‘problematic advice’, to young Nigerian students and graduates. While some agreed with him, others attacked him.

A Nigerian Man currently residing in North America, Canada, has advised young Nigerian Students and Graduates with good Grades to leave the country immediately.

Accordingly to him, this will help them get more exposure and experience, adding that they will be respected when they eventually come back to the country.

Oludayo Sokunbi who is the founder of @Japaconsults_ and the co-founder of @hellohelp_1, warned students that if they decide to work in Nigeria, they will end up using their good grades to protest for not being paid.

His tweet partly reads:

If you graduate with a good CGPA, please don’t be tempted to take any Government job in Nigeria. MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE abroad. Get exposure and experience. You will be respected if you ever want to come back, and if you don’t, no regrets. Don’t use your good grades to join them in protest because they didn’t pay your salary. Choice is yours.

As expected, his opinion aroused diverse reactions, with some agreeing to his advice and some disagreeing.

Below are a few reactions:

Wisdom Uchenna wrote: The way you all speak about moving abroad like it’s done with peanuts. I graduated with a CGPA of 4.31, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Haven’t been even gotten a job since i rounded up my national youth service in 2021. Where do I get the funds to move abroad?

Samito said: I believe many people know this. The challenge has been the “moving” abroad. It’s not as easy as you have said. Many people take some of these jobs as a means to an end..as a way of gathering funds. In the end, they’ve spent 3-4 years, fall in love, and kid is 10 years old lol

Concept said: You try and establish the connection here first. Take a study leave, go out there study and return. That’s the best.

OfficialGbegbin said: Well, I kind of disagree with this tweet, if all the best brains that lectured you in your first degree all moved back then, you won’t be tweeting from where presently you are. It is a matter of choice. I would love to move to Nigeria, but a 1.1 million reasons is saying NO

KenbeGold said: The best advice for people working in government is not to resign but take a two year study leave and see what comes out next

Amaka Elochukwu said: Moving abroad needs lots of money, everyone is interested in moving but that government job is also needed to make money to move abroad. Unemployment is skyrocketing in Nigeria, even a fully funded scholarship requires money to foot it!!!
