Meet Kind Man Who Awarded Scholarship to Kids Who Came Back to Thank Him for Helping Them in the Past

CURSORY: A Nigerian man has given a scholarship to two kids that he helped in the past because they came to show gratitude.

Smith Ankom Tarkema has offered scholarships to some kids who showed appreciation for a kind act he did for them in the past.

Smith, who is the convener of the Free Fish Festival (FFF), said his organization will pay the fees of two of the children.

According to him, he has helped the children in the past by buying all their firewoods they were hawking and giving them money.

He added that he had even forgotten about the children, but he was surprised when they showed up at his farm days ago.

They explained who they were, but he could only recognise them because they still wore the school sandals he had bought for them back then.

The kids said they came to thank him for what he did for them in the past. Moved by their wisdom and grateful hearts, Smith has now offered them full scholarships through FFF.

Sharing the story on Facebook, he wrote:

Yesterday I was at my farm as early as 7am along Gboko high school road and parked by the roadside while inspecting my yam and cassava farm, I saw these kids standing beside my car and kept wondering why they were there and quickly rounded up my inspection and walked back to the car.

I asked them why there were here thinking they wanted a lift because the only primary school before my farm was 1/2 kilometer but what they told amazed me.

They only wanted to say thanks to me, that sometime in their second term in the just concluded session they were selling firewood to raise money to pay their fees and bought the whole firewood and paid more one morning, I was on my way for a routine check to my farm that morning too.

I remembered I bought some firewood from some kids and mobilize cash for them online and bought books, bags, foodstuffs, and cash for them thereafter and they were able to resume school for the term.

I was moved to tears, I was glad that at their age they were reasonable enough to reciprocate my gesture in that manner.

What made me recall them vividly was the pairs of sandals I bought for them was uniformly and I saw them wearing the sandals.

No matter what, learn to say thank you for what someone has done positively for you.

I am going to give full primary school scholarships to two of the kids through FFF, I will contact the families immediately after the unveiling of Face of FFF contestants on Saturday.
