On Thursday, the 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, remarked that numerous first-class graduates struggle to find employment due to inadequate skills.
Sanusi shared with Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State that he has reviewed hundreds of CVs from first-class students who do not possess the necessary skills.

He made these comments at the ongoing Rivers Economic and Investment Summit in Port Harcourt.
Sanusi emphasized the importance of human capital for economic development, stating, “Investing in people is crucial. Rivers State needs comprehensive education and skills training programs to prepare the youth for the future.”
He added, “I spoke with the governor today, mentioning that many of us have hundreds of CVs from young people with first-class degrees. Unfortunately, they are unable to secure formal jobs because they lack the right skills for today’s economy.”
The recently reinstated Emir praised the governor’s efforts to pursue a new trajectory for the state’s growth and prosperity.
Sanusi highlighted that while Rivers is rich in oil, relying solely on this natural resource is insufficient to transform the state’s fortunes. Instead, he pointed to purposeful leadership as the key to achieving this goal.
