The Kano State Government on Sunday confirmed the release of the 2021 National Examinations Council (NECO), which was previously withheld due to outstanding debts.

According to reports, Kano state owed NECO more than 1.8 billion Naira in outstanding debt, which prevented public school students from Kano State to see their grades when the results were first released about three weeks ago.
However, in a statement from Kano on Sunday, the state’s Department of Education stated that students can now check their grades because the result has finally been released.
The statement signed by the Ministry of Education Public Relations Officer, Ali Yusu, reads: “This followed the efforts of the state ministry of education in securing funds from the state government for the payment of the NECO examination fees.”
According to State Education Commissioner Malam Muhammad Sanusi Said Kiru, the release of the results will enable students to gain admission to universities and other higher education institutions of their choice.
While urging students to use registration scratch cards to obtain and print exam results, he further called on the public to instill in the habit of appreciating what the government is doing, taking into account the competitive demand for limited resources.
