Newly Approved Ebonyi College of Education to kick off in October

Prof. Reuben Okechukwu, the provost of the newly established Federal College of Education, Technical, Isu, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has noted that the school will commence its academic activities in October this year (2021).

The provost disclosed this when he led the management team of the college on a courtesy visit to Governor David Nweze Umahi at the Government House, Abakaliki.

According to him, the management will evolve a high sense of responsibility anchored on discipline and integrity in line with their mandate.

“We are mere missionaries and agents of the education industry whose duty is to develop and deliver access and quality education to our children and youths that will take over the nation tomorrow,” the provost said.

He added that the College is presently inundated with challenges and solicited the support of the state government to grow and develop the college so as to make it the best centre for teacher education in Nigeria.

Responding, Governor Umahi, who was represented by Deputy Governor Dr Kelechi Igwe, called on the Federal Government to take urgent steps for the immediate and effective take-off of the college considering its importance to the manpower development of the state and nation at large.

He said the Federal Government should also make adequate budgetary provisions for the college, assuring that the State Government will always lend its support to the growth and development of the college.

“Ours as government is to complement and give a facelift to what has been brought to the land of Ebonyi to match with the level of infrastructural development we have put in place as a pace setting standard in the state,” the governor said.
