Nigerian Man Earns Master’s Degree 25 Years After Bachelor’s

Cursory: Segun Mcmedal, a Nigerian PR expert, earned a master’s degree from the University of Lagos after 25 years since his bachelor’s. Despite challenges like COVID-19 and university strikes, he remained determined, commuting daily for classes. Segun aspires to venture into diplomacy and credits his family for their support.

Segun Mcmedal, a Nigerian individual, has recently obtained a master’s degree from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, a quarter-century after completing his bachelor’s degree.

Segun initially earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, in 1998. Subsequently, he pursued further education at the Times Journalism Institute, where he attained a post-graduate degree in Journalism.

Segun has recently achieved a Master’s in Public and International Affairs from the University of Lagos. He proudly shared his accomplishment on LinkedIn, describing his journey to graduation as one characterized by triumph and personal growth.

”It is official! Last Thursday, I was awarded a Master of Public and International Affairs (MPIA) degree by the University of Lagos, having completed all the requirements for the programme. I fancy being a diplomat.,” he said.

Segun explained that he enrolled in his master’s program in 2019 with the expectation of graduating within two years.

However, the program was extended due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a strike by the university’s academic union. He recounted how he and two friends initially believed the program would last for one year and only require weekend attendance, but they later discovered it was a full-time commitment spanning 18 months. Despite the challenges of commuting to class every weekday, Segun and his friends remained determined to complete their studies.

He expressed that despite the stress, the experience was rewarding, and he felt invigorated and rejuvenated throughout the learning process.

Segun expressed gratitude for the chance to engage in learning and connect with fellow students. He also recognized the support and encouragement provided by his family throughout the duration of the program.
