The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has launched a logo design competition for students across the nation.
In a notice posted on X on July 8, signed by Kayode Adegoke, the head of corporate communications, the NIMC invited students to participate. The competition, commemorating the 6th National Identity Day with the theme “Digital Public Infrastructure: Enabling Access to Services,” seeks a logo design accompanied by a concept explanation of no more than 200 words.
“Legal identity is a birthright, not a privilege. At the National Identity Management Commission, we strive daily to ensure every Nigerian and legal resident has access to a legal identity,” the notice reads.
The competition is open to pupils from primary schools, as well as students from secondary schools and tertiary institutions. Participants are to design a NIMC logo and provide an explanation covering the national identification number (NIN), school/institution name, class/level, design approach, inspiration, advantages over the existing logo, graphic style, typography, and colors.
Entries should be submitted in PDF, JPEG, or PNG format via email to [email protected] with “Logo Design” as the subject. NIMC staff and their family members are excluded from participation. Joint designs are permitted. The competition emphasizes celebrating individual creativity and identity, with a strict verification process to ensure originality. Late submissions will not be accepted, and participation is free of charge.
The submission deadline is August 16 at 4 PM. Winners from each category will be invited to the Identity Day event in Abuja on September 16, where the director-general of NIMC will present the awards.
