Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, NOCEN Jubilates as Students Received 3.4 Million Scholarship Award.


Joy was visibly evident on every face as seventeen students of Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, received two hundred thousand naira each as a scholarship award from two foundations. The presentation of the award, which took place at the Council Chamber on Tuesday, 15th April, 2025 was made possible by the philanthropic gestures of High Chief Dr. Chukwuebuka Onunkwo Foundation and Professor Alice Ndu Memorial Scholarship Initiative.
Speaking before the presentation of the cheques to the beneficiaries, the chairperson of the College Committee on Students Scholarship, Dr. Nneka Nwaka expressed her joy over the scholarship awards and urged the students to value hard work always.
The Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Michael Ejike Meze told the students to consider themselves fortunate to have benefitted from the scholarship as they are not the only students in the College. He enjoined them to use the money wisely.
Before presenting the cheques, the Provost of the College, Dr. Justina Anyadiegwu expressed her gratitude to the benefactors. She thanked the CEO of Seahorse Lubricant Industries Limited, High Chief Dr Chukwuebuka Onunkwo for finding fifty Anambra State indigent students worthy of his scholarship award and for giving seven slots to the College. She also extended her gratitude to the family of late Professor Alice Ndu, the pioneer Provost of the College, for the continued renewal of the scholarship award to Indigent students of the College since 2023.
The Provost advised the recipients to spend the money judiciously. She emphatically told them to prioritise their academic needs.
