OPay Digital Services Limited has awarded scholarships totaling six million naira to twenty deserving students of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA).


The award ceremony, which also featured the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), took place on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the Academic Publishing Centre, Main Campus.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor of FUT, Minna, Professor Faruk Adamu Kuta, expressed his appreciation to the OPay team for their generous contribution and commitment to supporting education. He noted that the scholarship initiative would go a long way in supporting the students’ academic pursuits and reaffirmed the University’s dedication to sustaining the partnership. He also emphasized FUT, Minna’s commitment to affordability, highlighting that the institution maintains one of the lowest tuition rates in the country to ensure accessibility for underprivileged students.
Speaking on behalf of OPay, the Managing Director, Mr. Dauda Gotring, stated that the scholarship program is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts aimed at addressing the financial challenges faced by many students. He praised FUT, Minna graduates for their excellence and stated that OPay is proud to contribute to their academic journey and future success.
A major highlight of the event was the signing of the MoU between OPay and FUT, Minna, formalizing the scholarship program that awards N300,000 each to 20 selected students based on merit and financial need, as determined by the scholarship selection committee.
The event was attended by key University Officials, members of the Career Development Committee, representatives from OPay including Mr. Mohammed Sani (Manager, Government Relations), Mr. Daniel Joseph (State Manager, Niger State), and Mr. Moses Richard (Compliance Officer, Abuja), as well as the scholarship recipients.
