Cursory: Parents collects degree certificate on behalf of their late daughter who had died from getting run over by a lorry.

A graduation ceremony meant to be a day of joy and harmony for the celebrant and her family, turned out to be a bittersweet experience.
Adek@Che Ahmad and Siti Yuana Janamin had to fight tears when they were accepting their late daughter’s posthumous degree scroll, which she earned before her recent tragic passing.
The couple stood on behalf of their late daughter, Asniza to receive her Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) degree at the Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) graduation ceremony.
Siti Yuana highlighted how late Asniza had eagerly wanted to attend the ceremony. She had prepared everything – from the attire, plans, and even a group photo with her friends.
“But who are we to defy fate? Allah SWT loved her more. I accept it and am proud to have had a responsible, caring, and resilient daughter,” said the 44-year-old mother.
“I used to tell her that she needed to be strong to succeed, as she always complained about being busy with tasks or sharing her problems.
“So, today, it is that strength that drove me to attend this convocation ceremony.”
“Even though she’s no longer with us, our family is immensely proud of her achievements, which will remain a cherished memory for life,” concluded her mother.
