Perseverant Ghanaian Woman Achieves Dream of Becoming a Lawyer After Overcoming Three Failed Attempts at Law School Admission

After three unsuccessful attempts, Abena Yalley persevered to gain admission to Ghana Law School on her fourth try, ultimately achieving her dream of becoming a lawyer and being inducted as a Solicitor and Barrister of the Supreme Court of Ghana.

A resilient Ghanaian woman, Abena Yalley, fulfilled her dream of becoming a lawyer after gaining admission to the Ghana Law School on her fourth attempt. Following years of persistence, she was inducted as a Solicitor and Barrister of the Supreme Court of Ghana, a milestone she celebrated on LinkedIn.

Abena described her path to the bar as a journey defined by resilience and determination. After facing rejection in the law school entrance exams from 2018 to 2020, she finally succeeded on her fourth try in 2021.

Motivated by grit, she completed the challenging two-year law school program. Reflecting on her journey, Abena remarked, “Rejection and failure can be hard—a bitter pill to swallow! But how you choose to handle it shows what you’re made of.”

Abena’s legal education began at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, where she earned her Bachelor of Law degree. She expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering support from her family, friends, and her employer, Ghana’s Food and Drugs Authority, whom she praised for encouraging staff to pursue their goals.
