Prof. Ejiofor Elected as the First Female Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences in UNIZIK

Professor Ebere Virginia Ejiofor has made history as the first female Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.

Professor Ejiofor, from the Department of Computer Sciences, secured 80 votes out of 134 accredited voters, while her opponent, Professor Amaeze Osuji of the Department of Statistics, garnered 54 votes.

The election was chaired by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joseph Ikechebelu, with the Registrar, Victor Modebelu, represented by the Deputy Registrar (Examinations), Dr. Blessing Ezeafulukwe.

Also in attendance included Professor Au. Nonyelu, Special Adviser to the Ag. Vice-Chancellor on General Projects Director Emeka Anyaoku Institute for International Studies and Diplomacy, and Professor Ada Sam-Omenyi, Special Adviser to the Ag. Vice-Chancellor (Academic).

Earlier, the Acting Vice-Chancellor commissioned a borehole project built by the outgoing Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Anakwuba. The borehole will provide water for all the Departments in the Faculty of Physical Sciences.

Having previously served as Head of the Department of Computer Science, Professor Ejiofor brings a wealth of academic and leadership experience to the Dean’s office.

Her election marks a significant milestone in the faculty’s history, as she is poised to lead the Faculty of Physical Sciences to new heights of excellence and innovation.
