Some Brilliant Nigerian Female Students Who Shattered Academic Records In 2021

2021 had it’s good and bad. This year brought smiles to many faces. It also went further to buttress the fact that what a man can do, a woman can do it even better.

Today we celebrate some female students who did very well academically. Note that this list is not exhaustive and you are free to use the comment box to continue the list.

Now, the list!

  1. Fareedah Oyolola
Fareedah Oyolola, world brightest student

We will start with Fareedah Oyolola who in August was honored by the Johns Hopkins Center for being one of the brightest students in the world.

The recognition came as a result of her fabulous performance in the School and College Ability Test (SCAT), which students are required to undergo for the Center to determine their academic abilities before admitting them.

Fareedah, a student of Greensprings School, Lagos, took 100 question test in 44 minutes and scored 92% for verbal reasoning and 87% for quantitative reasoning.

  1. Uzoaku Odinakachukwu
Uzoaku Odinakachukwu, UNIUYO First Class Student

Uzoaku Odinakachukwu is the second on our list, stole the attention of the public when she emerged as the overall best graduating medical student from the University of Uyo (UNIUYO)

She recorded the highest scores and received awards in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Biochemistry and Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

That’s not all! She also received awards for being the best in Anatomy, Physiology, Paediatrics, Surgery, Clinical Biochemistry, Laboratory Medicine and Communal Medicine.

Somtochi Amuche, FUTO first-class student

Another Brilliant girl, Somtochi Amuche, in December, pivoted herself to the top of her class as she bags first-class Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO).

That’s right! In electrical engineering, a department popularly considered a male-dominated department.

  1. Basirat Rufai
Basirat Rufai, UI Pharmacy First Class Graduate

Basirat Rufai is another smart student that did academic wonders in 2021. She emerged as the best graduating student of the Department of Pharmacy, from the prestigious University of Ibadan (UI).

According to Basirat, right from her 400 level, when they started clinical pharmacy (a course in 400l), she had always heard, ‘no one gets distinction in clinical pharmacy’. But She did not listen to that.

She made sure I put in so much effort to break that record of ‘no one gets distinction in clinical pharmacy’. And she did break the record.

Joy Adesina, OAU Medicine and Surgery First Class Graduate

Last on our list is Joy Adesina, a smart lady who broke the all-time record in Medicine at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (OAU) in October.

Joy received 9 awards and recorded distinctions in 10 subjects including Surgery, Community Health, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics and Child Health, Dermatology, Mental Health, Pharmacology, Anatomy, Biochemistry, and Physiology.

She revealed that her classmates accused her of sleeping with lecturers for making excellent grades in OAU medical school.

Please my o level results hasn’t reflect yet for two months now what should I do? I changed my course and school also but I’m seeing blank on the dash please i need help although i have the print out with me. I would be glad if my question will have an answer thank you sir 🙏!
