Suspect Arrested Over Imo Nursing Student’s Death as Viral Confession Sparks Outrage

A suspect arrested over the death of an Imo nursing student allegedly confessed in a viral video, sparking outrage and widespread calls for justice.

A tragic incident has sparked outrage online after a suspect linked to the death of a nursing student in Imo State allegedly confessed in a viral video shared on social media. The victim, identified as Wendy Achumba, was a student of the College of Nursing in Obowo.

According to reports, the suspect, Onyema Okonkwo, was arrested by youths in the Umuadara community of Umulogho, Obowo Local Government Area, following investigations into the case. Community members reportedly became suspicious as tension continued to rise over the student’s death.

The arrest operation was said to have been coordinated by the local youth leader, Chidiebere Iweajunwa, alongside other residents who assisted in tracking down the suspect.

In the viral video circulating online, the suspect allegedly explained how he and another individual identified as Emmanuel visited the student’s lodge in the evening. He claimed they met her alone at home and an altercation later occurred inside the residence.

The shocking confession has generated widespread reactions across social media, with many Nigerians calling for justice and demanding a full investigation into the incident.

Community sources also revealed that the late student was reportedly staying alone at the time because her roommates had travelled for their nursing practical experience programme. The house owner was also said to be living abroad.

The heartbreaking case has continued to attract national attention as authorities and residents seek justice for the deceased student.
