Stephen Essilfie, one of Daniel’s basic school teachers, said that when Daniel was in class 5, the family’s main provider, (his mother) passed away. He was then left with only his father, a bicycle repairer to take care of him.
In class six, he almost dropped out of basic school since his father could no longer pay his fees.
According to Stephen, “The proprietor of the school gave him a tuition free scholarship since he was our best student and couldn’t afford to lose him to any other school because of a mere GH¢90.”
Daniel’s BECE results showed his effort and perseverance, as he received an overall score of 6. Another financial obstacle stood in the way of his goals while he was still in senior high school, but he received the much-needed financial support from Tullow Oil to continue to attend Adisadel College.
Daniel’s desire for tertiary education is threatened by financial restraints, despite his 8As in the 2023 WASSCE, and that has led to a need for support.
