Twin brothers, Busoye Matthias and Busoye Matthew, graduated from the University of Ibadan with identical first-class degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, both earning a CGPA of 3.94 and emerging as the best graduating students in their department and faculty.


In a rare and remarkable academic achievement, twin brothers Busoye Opegbemi Matthias and Busoye Tolulope Matthew have graduated from the University of Ibadan with identical first-class degrees, each earning a CGPA of 3.94 out of 4.00.
The duo, who studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering, were jointly named the Overall Best Graduating Students for the 2023/2024 academic session in both their department and the Faculty of Technology.
Matthias shared news of the achievement on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, drawing widespread admiration and praise.
The Society of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Students (SEEEES-UI) formally recognized the brothers with a congratulatory statement, applauding not only their academic excellence but also their leadership roles during their time at the university.
Matthias served as the Honourable Speaker of the UI Students’ Representative Council (UISU-SRC, 11th Assembly), while Matthew held office as the President of SEEEES-UI for the 2023/2024 session.
Throughout their five-year academic journey, the brothers maintained a consistent record of excellence. At the 100 level, Matthias and Matthew recorded CGPAs of 3.84 and 3.89 respectively. Their scores remained impressively close over the years—3.92 and 3.94 at 200 level; 3.95 and 3.93 at 300 level; 3.94 and 3.93 at 400 level—and finally, both concluded with a perfect match of 3.94.
Their story of shared discipline, consistency, and leadership has not only set a new standard at the University of Ibadan but also inspired students across the country.
