The University of Ibadan Student Union has suspended its protest against the fee hike after the university management extended the fee payment deadline and postponed exams by three weeks, though the fee increase remains unchanged.

The University of Ibadan Student Union (UISU) has suspended its protest against the recent increase in school fees.
Following a meeting with the university management on Saturday, Union President Aweda Bolaji released a memo stating that the deadline for fee payment, originally set for September 4th, has been extended by three weeks, and first semester exams, initially scheduled for September 2nd, have also been postponed by three weeks.
Given these changes, the union decided to suspend the protest, acknowledging that while the governing council’s decision on the fee hike remains unchanged, students should use the extended period to sort out their fees and prepare for exams.
The protests, which began on July 16 and 17 in response to the fee increase, resumed on Thursday after the governing council approved the new fees and continued for three days.
Earlier today, the school management issued a memo directing students to vacate their hostels by 2 pm.
