Several University of Benin (UNIBEN) students are trapped after a three-storey building collapsed in Ekosodin following heavy rainfall, with ongoing rescue efforts underway.


Several University of Benin (UNIBEN) students have been trapped after a three-storey building collapsed in Ekosodin, an off-campus community mainly inhabited by students.
The collapse occurred following a heavy downpour that lasted from the early hours of Saturday until around 10 a.m.
A university staff member on the scene told Vanguard that while some people have been rescued, others remain trapped, and additional help is being called to assist in the ongoing rescue efforts.
The university management has yet to release an official statement.
